In a highly anticipated announcement made Wednesday in front of the state Capitol, seven-time Tour de France-winning cyclist Lance Armstrong and Gov. Bill Ritter unveiled plans for a seven-stage pro cycling challenge to debut next summer.

The Quiznos Pro Challenge, as the race will be called, will bring professional cycling back to Colorado for the first time since the final Coors Classic race in 1988. The new race, whose stages are still being determined, is scheduled for Aug. 22-28, 2011.
